ChromeOS, while not the most popular operating system, continues to offer remarkable innovations thanks to Google’s support. Since its initial release over a decade ago, the operating system has undergone numerous updates, and with its new 130 version, it brings many new features. Here are the details…
‘Quick Insert’ feature stands out in ChromeOS 130
ChromeOS 130 started rolling out to Chromebook users this week. One of the 14 new features awaiting users is the ‘Quick Insert’ function. This feature allows you to quickly add items like symbols, emojis, links, or calculations with a single keypress. While all Chromebooks can use this feature with the ‘Launcher + F’ key combination, some models have a dedicated ‘Quick Insert’ button, making it even more practical.
Some Galaxy Chromebook Plus models already have this button, and it is expected to be available on more models next year. Additionally, the new Focus mode is another highlight. This mode helps minimize distracting sounds and notifications, while also allowing users to focus with a special music playlist.
Let’s move on to another feature, Tote… Tote allows users to easily pin frequently used files either locally or online. Google Drive also provides similar suggestions, offering quick access to important or frequently used files. Additionally, users will find files accessible directly from the Shelf.
A new AI feature called ‘Help me read’ has also been added to ChromeOS. This feature provides a summary of the text on the screen and adds a Q&A section for users who want more information about the text. However, this feature will only be available on Chromebook Plus devices for now.
Overall, ChromeOS 130 stands out as an important update that enriches user experience with various innovations. Chromebook users can check for this update in the Settings menu and install it on their devices.
